Rancho De lA Luna

Founded in Joshua Tree in 1993 by Fred Drake and David Catching, Rancho de la Luna is one of the defining recording spaces of the desert music scene. The private home studio has hosted artists including Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, and the long-running Desert Sessions, developing a mythology and a sound inseparable from the landscape around it.

For me, photographing Rancho is about the character of the place as much as the people inside it—the instruments, worn-in rooms, strange details, desert light, and decades of music embedded in the walls.
